This week the motorcycle community lost a long time favored champion to a tragic practice injury. Mika Ahola died at the age of 37 from post-operative complications while trying to fix an internal organ injury he sustained just three weeks ago. We tribute this episode of Seat Time to Mika Ahola; He has been a great leader, ambassador and champion within, and outside of our community. Many 2012 seasons began this past weekend. TSCEC started up in Nacogdoches, TX with the Cycleland Enduro. Texas received a lot of rain the week prior, so the typical sandy trails were in great, tacky condition. The exposed roots got a little slick and sent more than a few riders to the ground. Cole Kirkpatrick came away with the overall on his Thunderbird Energetica KTM, Cameron Ishmael rode his new KTM hard for second and Zach Ingram rode his new Husaberg 2 stroke to a well-earned third place. At Glen Helen MX outside of Los Angeles, CA, the WORCS Series kicked off their 2012 Season. Racing on Saturday and Sunday would add points earned for an overall weekend winner. With defending champion, Kurt Caselli, not racing, there was a wide door for some new riders to claim the title. Overall on the weekend gave Taylor Robert the win, Mike Brown second and Kyle Summer third. Robert is looking strong, Brown is still super consistent and Kyle Summers is the new guy who has something to prove. Locally, just north of the DFW area was the Bonita 100.
